The Tennessee State men’s tennis team put on an impressive performance on the road, securing a 6-1 victory over Austin Peay on Wednesday afternoon at the Governors Tennis Courts. The Tigers controlled the match from the start, winning the doubles point and capturing four of the five completed singles matches.
Tennessee State started strong in doubles action, winning two of the three matches to secure the first point of the day.
At No. 2 doubles, James Adler Germinal and Taj Hibbertmade quick work of Glen Arnet and Tom Bolton, winning 6-2. The No. 3 pairing of Jonasz Dziopak and Alexander Adamec followed suit, defeating Javier Tortajada and Giovanni Becchis 6-4 to seal the doubles point for TSU.
The No. 1 doubles match featuring Rohan Loubser and Tatenda Mutetwa against Sota Minami and Aeneas Schaub was left unfinished with TSU leading 5-4.
TSU carried its momentum into singles, securing wins in four of six matches to clinch the team victory.
At the No. 1 position, Jonasz Dziopak delivered a commanding performance, defeating Sota Minami 7-5, 6-1.
James Adler Germinal rebounded from a tough first set at No. 3 singles to overcome Tom Bolton 0-6, 6-3, 6-0, showcasing resilience in a three-set battle.
At No. 4 singles, Nicholas Adamec edged out Aeneas Schaub in a tight contest, winning 7-5, 7-6, while Alexander Adamec secured a solid 7-5, 6-3 victory over Glen Arnet at No. 5.
Christopher Bogelin sealed the dominant outing for the Tigers at No. 6 singles, defeating Lucas Ranciaro 6-3, 6-2.
The only setback for TSU came at No. 2 singles, where Taj Hibbert fought through a three-set battle but fell to Giovanni Becchis 7-5, 3-6, 10-5 in a super tiebreaker.
